Steven M. Schwartz:

Steven is an international award nominated composer, song writer and multi-instrumentalist with a focus on composing music for film and tv. His first feature film score was for, ‘For Maria Ebun Pataki’. In 2020 the film was nominated for six awards at the African Movies Academy Awards, including a nomination for ‘Achievement in Soundtrack’. It premiered on Netflix in 2022.

  • Steven was born and raised in New Jersey, USA. He lived in New York City after High School and formed the rock band - ‘The Things They Carried’. For over 10 years, he was the song writer, lead singer and guitarist of the band, which landed a record deal and toured the USA.

    Towards the end of his touring days, Steven began composing orchestral music. He first composed music for a contemporary ballet choreography, performed by dancers of Portland Ballet in Maine. Then pursued his lifelong love, the art of film composing. 

    Steven moved to Los Angeles, graduated from UCLA’s film scoring extension and his career kicked off. He was contracted by Score A Score and began composing short films, trailers and feature films. His music is influenced by the likes of Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, John Williams and Max Richter, as well as classical composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, Dvorak, Camille Saint-Saens and Mahler to name a few.

    Steven’s first feature film score was for, ‘For Maria Ebun Pataki’. Currently, Steven resides between Los Angeles and Auckland, New Zealand with his wife.
